Comparison and research of magazine mastheads.

VIBE’ magazine represents an urban choice of music. I could tell from just looking at the mast head that it is bold and vibrant. The clear one-coloured red font shows the direct and strong language the magazine is willing to offer. Fonts with this thickness and strength suggest consistently reliable information for the reader. I noticed the colour of the font used is often different colours which reflects diversity.

NME magazine represents rock/indie music. Yet again the font is a bold prominent one which shows strength in the information given. The mashead is always the same on every issue, which may also present the idea of consistency throughout the issues. The magazine reflects on a rebellious target and gives the idea of braking rules; hence the pronunciation of ‘NME’(enemy)

This mast head promotes the idea of sugar-coated, problem free life. It makes the reader feel that if they read it, they will be happy and be updated with all their favourite gossip. The magazine is clearly aimed at an audience of young female children; perhaps the age of 7-11.  On most of the mastheads the main colour is pink, as that is the key colour on the main magazine cover. The mag promotes mainly pop music such as; Tustin Bieber, JLS etc...

KERRANG’ is another rebellious magazine; it promotes rock music, which is loud and out of control. The harsh black slashed font used is edgy and gives on anxiety for daring readers. The masthead even has an exclamation mark on the end which means the word is excaggerated and being shouted. Thje magazine will attract people who enjoy being uncontrolled and loud. ‘life is loud’ is even printed across the masthead telling the reader that the magazine emphasizes loud music.
